New company, Bay Voyager, has just launched San Francisco’s first and only bay tour featuring the Navy Seals-type large passenger rigid inflatable boat (RIB), which can accommodate up to 12 people. Regardless of the choice of six tours, an overnight excursion and private charters, Bay Voyager’s cruises provide great access to the less traveled corners of the San Francisco Bay as well as a more individualized experience.
A snapshot of Bay Voyager’s tours may include history and stories of the San Francisco Bay while observing the former mooring sites of abandoned gold rush ships or active estuaries populated by cargo ships and tug boats. While Bay Voyager does have specific routes on the variety of tours available, deviation is an integral part of the experience, making each adventure an engaging and exhilarating encounter.
According to President and Founder, Charles Jennings, “Although other bay tours offer passengers a resplendent experience, we felt there was a need to provide more intimate and individualized tours that travel farther than any other tour on the bay. By being in a small and fast vessel, guests can have an up close and personal adventure while traveling to all corners of the always-fascinating bay.”
Riding on the same type of vessel NAVY SEALS use in their operations, passengers will enjoy cruising aboard San Francisco Bay’s first and only large passenger RIB (rigid inflatable boat) and one of only a small number of passenger RIB vessels on the West Coast of California.
1) “San Francisco Bay Highlights” 25 miles (1 hour, 45 minutes) Focusing on the highlights of the Bay, this tour cruises past the San Francisco downtown area, the Marina and North Beach from a waterfront excursion of California’s most historic city.
2) “Bay Hopping” 25 Miles (2 hours, 45 minutes) Expanding on trip #1, passengers will explore more of the Bay as this tour ventures across the Bay to the Alameda/Oakland estuary. Viewing some of the most storied vessels in the Bay, such as FDR’s private yacht, this trip is ideal for executive clients, visitors and cruise connoisseurs with limited time.
3) “49 Mile Bay Crossing” 49 Miles (3 hours, 45 minutes) This voyage combines trip #1 and #2, exploring parts of the Bay that even locals don’t often see. Passengers will go under not one but four of the major bridges in the San Francisco Bay and around not two lighthouses as well.
6) “City Night Lights” (1 hour, 45 minutes) For this evening cruise on the bay, passengers will ride along the city’s waterfront and down past Aquatic Park. Weather permitting, the tour will also pass under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz. The cruise will then pass AT&T Park, home to the 2010 World Series Champions, San Francisco Giants. Guests may want to combine this trip with waterfront restaurant plans and make it a night to remember. Pick up and drop off at different locations can be arranged.
Overnight Excursion --- Angel Island (1-2 days) On this special tour, guests will experience Angel Island’s natural beauty as they start the day at one of a variety of desired pickup locations, then head to Angel Island, where passengers will camp amongst the finest views of the Bay. After a tour on the bay, guests will enjoy hiking, games, exploration of old military landmarks, the Angel Island State Park Museum, the museum at the newly renovated Detention Center and/or a visit on the tram tour around the island, gourmet food and drifting off to sleep at the water’s edge. Private charters only, please contact us.
