Autumn products and the traditional and non-traditional recipes that interpret them, matched with fine selections of wines from the Collio, are the protagonists of a series of events that the Castle of Spessa Resort in Capriva del Friuli (in the province of Gorizia) dedicates to gourmets and to all those wishing to spend some days in an exclusive residence, which over the centuries has given hospitality to famous personalities, such as Giacomo Casanova. The Castle of Spessa is a historical residence, which stands in the quiet of Friuli’s countryside and offers the possibility of restoring walks among the vineyards, as well as Vespa rides upon the hills. The night of 5th October is dedicated to pumpkin: pumpkins become not only the basic ingredient of the whole menu from first courses to desserts, but also a decoration element of the restaurant. Then, it will be the turn of the king of autumn, the fine truffle, and of the goose, which once for the Friulian people was the “pork of the poor”, and which today is at the centre of a refined gastronomy - on 26th October and 23rd November. Well-known protagonists of the cultural scene will be present on both nights. Finally, on 7th December takes place “Porco mondo”, a homage to pork, the main protagonist of Friuli’s culinary tradition, and to the delicious products of local pork butchering, from the ham from Cormons of Lorenzo D’Osvaldo to the PGS (Protected Geographical Status) ham from Sauris, both slightly smoked but completely different from each other.
