Catch a Flick at a Film Festival

Two film festivals will come through Oakland this September with two very different series of films. On September 3, 9 and 10, drive-in, walk-in or bike-in to the Brainwash Movie Festival, held at the Mandela Village Arts Center. The festival will kick off with a live viewing of the Burning Man Festival at Black Rock desert, followed by a series of short movies. Bring your appetite - food trucks will be on site for the famished film buffs. Later in the month, the Oakland Underground Film Festival will show a collection of independent, DIY movies September 22-24. An emphasis on social justice, urban life and the environment will be present throughout the films. Check the film festival website for specific locations.
