The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum is offering some new demonstrations and activities beginning in September and the theme is \"In the Saddle.\"

The museum\'s livestock staff will have its Parade of Breeds demonstration each Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Round Pen near the Horse & Cattle Barn. Livestock Manager Greg Ball brings cattle from each of the six breeds of beef cattle into the pen on horseback and talks about the different characteristics of each breed. The beef cattle include Charolais, Angus, Hereford, Brangus, Longhorn and Corriente.

On Wednesdays, Museum livestock staff members will do roping demonstrations on horseback in the Roping Arena.

Another activity that takes place on the South 20 portion of the Museum\'s 47-acre campus is pony rides, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Saturday. The cost of each pony ride is $5 and tickets can be purchased at the front desk.

There is no extra charge to watch the Parade of Breeds, which begins Sept. 4, or the roping, which begins Sept. 5.

Milking demonstrations continue each day at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Dairy Barn.
