Sights of Munich. Monumental Ludwigstrasse street was laid by Ludwig I as a symbol of the Bavarian Kingdom. It begins to the south with the Arcade of Commanders, and ends to the north with the Gate of Victory. The main design of buildings of the southern part in the style of early Italian Renaissance belongs to the court architect Leo von Klenze. The northern part of the street in Romanesque style was built by Friedrich von Gärtner.
Ludwigstrasse can be proud of: Lyudvigskirhe (1829-44), Teatinerkirhe (1832-35), the giant fresco "The Last Court" (1836-40) by Peter Cornelius in Teatinerkirhe, the State Library in the style of early Italian Renaissance, with its five million volumes, the monumental Gate of Victory, built in 1843-52 by fon Gertner at the model of the Arch of Constantine in Rome, the Arcade of Commanders, etc
