The UK Biennial of Contemporary Art. Ten weeks of free exhibitions, talks, films, tours and events.
Liverpool Biennial 2012 presents work by 242 artists in 27 locations. The festival takes place in galleries, museums and sites across the city and includes a dynamic programme of talks, events, screenings and family activities.
Engaging art, people and place.
Liverpool Biennial commissions and presents art of international quality that enriches the lives of people in our communities – providing learning, satisfaction, environmental improvements, confidence and security.
Our core activity is the delivery of a festival of contemporary art every two years.
Liverpool Biennial has also created projects outside of the Festival that have focused on the creation of art with and for particular communities, especially during Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture.
Projects have included:
Antony Gormley’s Another Place
Winter Lights
A-APE’s Visible Virals
Richard Wilson’s Turning the Place Over
Art for Places
Urbanism 09
Jaume Plensa’s Dream
