Choosing a tour to Potosi, one should know that this city was founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1546, after discovery of rich deposits of silver here. Potosi is the most preserved colonial city on the continent - the pearl of Bolivia. At the very beginning of the XVI century, it was not inferior in size to London, and even surpasses it in wealth. Most buildings were built by Indian masters.
Main attractions: a former House de Otávio Marquis (1750-1785) - now the National Bank, the Mint Casa Real de Moneda (1759-1773) - now the National Museum, the Classic cathedral ( 1809-1836), Churches of San Francisco (1548), La Company (1590) and San Lorenzo (1728-1744) - all in Baroque style, the University (1892).
