Thailand is the general tourist destination in South-East Asia, and for a reason. Anybody can find almost anything here: thick jungle, crystal blue beaches, the warm ocean and multifarious food. Exotic, cheap and equipped with every modern amenity you need, there is different kind of dwellings from bungalows on beaches to the best luxury hotels in the world. And despite the heavy flow of tourism, Thailand maintains its friendly reputation with a culture and history and a carefree people famed for their smiles and their fun-seeking lifestyle. Many travelers coming to Thailand extend their stay and some others never find a reason to leave. The country includes 76 provinces that are divided into districts and villages. Bangkok is the capital city and centre of political, industrial, commercial and cultural activities. It is also the seat of Thailand's esteemed Royal Family, with His Majesty the King. A unified Thai kingdom was established in the middle of14th century, known as Siam until 1939. The culture of Thailand absorbs a great deal of influence from India, China, and the rest of south Asia. Thailand's main divinity Theravada Buddhism is central to modern Thai identity and belief. Most of the Thai people's lives are closely tied to temples; they often send their sons to be educated with the monks. Thais have a strong sense of hospitality and generosity, but also a strong sense of social hierarchy.Thai cuisine goes with five fundamental tastes: bitter, sweet, sour, spicy and salty. The staple food in Thailand is rice included in almost every meal. Some common ingredients used in Thai cuisine include garlic, chillies, lime juice, lemon grass, and fish sauce.
