Delphi is the most important cultic center of ancient Greece. Delphi archaeological complex is located in 176 kilometers away from Athens, in the Sacred Valley at the foot of Mount Parnassus. Tourists get there from the southeast, through the Roman Agora and move along the ancient Sacred Way, on both sides of which one can see treasuries and monuments-vows, including a restored treasury of the Athenians (490-485 BC). Buleuterion and sanctuary of Gaia are also very interesting. Then follow ruins of Apollo temple (IV century BC). "Omfalos" - "the navel of the Earth", is one of Delphic sanctuary symbols. According to a legend, this cone-shaped stone fell from the sky and marked the center of the universe. Delphic temple, located in a natural stone amphitheater, was considered the most sacred place on the Earth for many centuries. From the temple of Apollo a staircase of the Roman period leads upstairs to the theater, and higher - to the stadium, which seats 6,500 spectators. Every summer, concerts, staged performances - events Delphic cultural festival are held there. In the Archaeological Museum of Delphi there are 6 thousand exhibits, including fragments of sculptures of Apollo and Artemis, made of ivory and gold, silver archaic bull, once decorated an altar and a bronze, perfectly preserved statue of the Charioteer of Delphi (474 BC).
